After obtaining her Master’s degree in biomedical sciences at the LUMC, Suzanne started her PhD at the Department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology in 2022. Her PhD research focusses on the effect of janus kinase (JAK) inhibitors in ulcerative colitis. Specifically, she studies the effect of filgotinib on the disease-associated network of intestinal immune cells by performing imaging mass cytometry (IMC) and liquid chromatography mass spectrometry (LC-MS) on patient biopsies. In addition, she studies the effect of JAK inhibitors on intestinal epithelial cells using patient-derived organoids.
